OpCap's Small Cap Value strategy marked its three-year anniversary on May 1, 2008. The strategy, which invests in small-capitalization U.S. companies, relies on fundamental research to generate alpha and employs a sector neutral approach to minimize risk. Since inception, the strategy has outperformed its benchmark in 9 of 11 quarters.
The strategy is managed by Thomas Browne, Jr., CFA—a small-cap value and core specialist with more than 10 years of small-cap experience—with dedicated analysis from Bill Mlynarick and Brett Pollack.
The team employs an investment philosophy that seeks alpha through consistent investment in companies they believe exhibit the three "right" attributes.
• Right Company— A strong franchise and a solid management team.
• Right Time— Indications that a company’s future will be better than its recent past.
• Right Price— A company’s stock is trading below its intrinsic value.
